Salt Lake Highland Games

Saturday was the Salt Lake Scottish Festival!

I don't know if anyone else experienced the rain like we did at Thanksgiving Point, but it felt like hurricane season in Florida. Tents were blowing over each other. Rain was pelting us from all directions. People were scattering like ants being sprayed with Raid. Lightning....thunder....environmental chaos!

But none-the-less,

Come rain, come wind, come......

...hurricane,

...we will be there ready to play!
(warming up our hands by swinging them around- 'Survivor Man' is a useful show!)

Brandon acting like a child at lunch.

Me being dared to eat a soggy fry.
We had a ton of fun despite the elements.

We did see some sunshine and rain free skies. Lucky it occurred around competition time for us!

We took 1st place in all 3 of our competitions! (we won't mention the fact that there were no other grade 3 bands to compete against in 2 of those competitions. ahem.)
We took first place out of 4 drum corps for the Drum Salute! Wahoo!
Our Grade 4 band took 4th place out of 10 bands. Way cool for their very first competition!

You didn't see us there did you?!?! Way way too much rain - we didn't even think that the "show" would go on! Sure makes everything look green and gorgeous. Next weekend when it is nearing 90 degrees you will be dreaming of the cooler, soggier weather! Good job on the performances! xoxo
