Pregnancy Risk Line

I am currently on rotation at the Pregnancy Risk Line and I will be doing a seminar at the end of the rotation.
I need ideas people!
If you have ever wondered about taking a medication while you are pregnant or breastfeeding that you just haven't gotten a straight answer for....let me know! I need to come up with something pretty darn soon...this week probably, so keep some ideas rolling in!
Thanks!

well... here's one. Antacids/heartburn medication. I had 1 dr say the chewable meds like tums and rolaids were a no-no and put me on Zantac150 while another dr said the chewables were fine... I've also heard of other prego women who used the chewables no problem. I steered clear and stuck w/ Zantac the whole time. So are they okay? Are the pill forms better/worse?
Thats really the only one I can think of during pregnancy for me at least. What about post-partum? Cold meds while breastfeeding?
Good luck!!

I went to the OBGYN in December just to check things out for when we're ready to have kids and told her I take glucosamine (sp?)(after knee surgery they said to take this daily). So I asked if this was something I should stop taking if I become pregnant, and she really didn't have a good answer. She said not much is safe during the first trimester and it's best to avoid it unless you have to have it. Now I know glucosamine isn't that exciting, but what about Fish oil, Flax Seed, other supplements lots of people are taking these days? (My OBGYN also RECOMMENDED taking fish oil for the future baby's heart). It may be interesting to see if these supplements are helpful or harmful, especially during pregnancy.

I've always wondered about taking my albuterol inhaler. I don't take it regularly so I've never asked my doctor if it was okay to take when pregnant/nursing?

I agree with Emily, all those supplements would be interesting to know if they're safe or not.

Well pain medication is always a good one to know more about. However I think a big one that I have heard from other moms and myself is medication such as Zolof or others like that. Hormones are crazy and us women sometimes need a little help. It's been hard to find a lot of info on this topic.
